At Jordemoderhuset, we offer physiotherapeutic assessment and treatment for a range of pelvic health concerns and symptoms related to women’s health.
Physiotherapy treatment can be part of a holistic approach when trying to conceive. It may be particularly beneficial as a complementary treatment alongside fertility treatments such as IVF.
You book an initial assessment with our physiotherapist, who is specially trained in GYN/OBS physiotherapy. During the consultation, we will review your medical history and fertility journey and perform a thorough assessment.
The assessment includes both a physical evaluation of tension, mobility, and related issues, as well as a review of your previous and current gynaecological health.
If relevant, follow-up consultations and treatments will be planned based on your individual needs and response to treatment.
Separated abdominal muscles (Rectus Diastasis) are a normal physiological condition commonly associated with pregnancy. During pregnancy, the uterus expands, causing the abdominal muscles to move apart to make room for the growing baby.
For many women, the muscles gradually come back together during the weeks and months after childbirth. However, for some women, the muscles do not recover fully on their own.
That may lead to a range of symptoms and discomforts:
You book an appointment with our GYN/OBS physiotherapist. During the consultation, the physiotherapist – who is specially trained in diagnosing and treating rectus diastasis – will assess whether you have separated abdominal muscles.
If rectus diastasis is present, the extent of the separation will be evaluated, and an appropriate treatment and exercise programme will be planned based on your individual needs.
After childbirth – whether vaginally or by caesarean section – many women wish to have their pelvic floor and intimate area checked. Some women experience symptoms or discomfort, while others simply want reassurance that everything is healing and functioning as expected.
Below are examples of symptoms or concerns that may occur after childbirth:
You book an appointment for an assessment and treatment. You are welcome to describe your symptoms or concerns in the comment field when booking.
The consultation includes a conversation and a gynaecological examination. After the assessment, you will be guided through exercises that you can continue at home. You will receive printed instructions to take home with you.
For certain conditions, follow-up treatment sessions may be recommended.
If you have any questions about the treatment, please feel free to contact us by phone or email.
